05:19 pm - Update for the ages!
This was taken on my birthday, last year. Every year, my parents will always buy me the same cake, in the same size. I wish there were the same number of candles too, but we can't have everything. And every year, I'll sit by the table, and place my hands in front of me since I have no idea what to do with them when it comes to pictures. Someone with a camera, usually my dad, will say 'Say papayas!" or something along that brand of humor, and I'll grin the widest grin I can because I'm fuck yeah happy, it's my birthday and I'll smile for all I'm worth. Birthdays aren't exactly the happiest moments of my life. I can think of better occasions for that. But it is then when everyone is clapping to the familiar, off key tune of 'Happy Birthday', do I realise how lucky I am to be surrounded by such warm, kind and loving people, and that brings with it an immense sense of contentment.

09:58 pm - FFXI Watching this again makes me nostalgic. I spent a good few years in it, and though I know I won't be playing it again, it still warms my heart whenever I see old screenshots or FMV sequences like that.
I remember the excitement I felt, firing it up for the first time. Hearing the POL music play as I got ready to go into Vanadiel. For the next few weeks, I gathered with friends every night, and we'd try to level up. Getting our subjobs, and more importantly, finding a way to Jeuno.
We had a friend who was twice our level, and he'd keep getting us stuff from Jeuno. He'd talk about it in chat, and I kept wondering what it was like. I thought, Vanadiel was about that big. Sandy, Windy, Bastok and Jeuno. How wrong I was. The trek to Jeuno was dangerous. We had to dodge enemies and what not. We couldn't ride chocobos yet, so we had to make do with hiding, running and hiding again. It was quite exciting to say the least, haha.
I love the excitement right before a big boss fight. You'd be running through strategies with your team mates. Before you even came into FFXI, you'd have written out an entire battle plan in your note book. Who's coming as what, what are they doing, what items/meds do we need, what's the backup plan should it fail...
I had three notable moments in FFXI, that I will forever take with me.
The first was the mission fight with the Shadowlord in his castle. The fight was easy enough, but the journey there... it was my first time there and all I had was awe. As I was approaching the castle and it came into view, all I saw was this tall, dark, imposing prison for a tortured soul. It got me really hyped up for the fight.
Second was the completion of the Promathia expansion. That... that brought tears. It took up so much time, energy and effort to have gotten through all of it. The fights were just as nail biting. Promys were hell. The bomb fight was an annoying biatch. And ugh, the airship fight with the tarus and that, that samurai guy. I can't quite remember his name. My last epic boss fight was difficult only because one of our members d/ced and we had to kite Promathia and whitlle him down without killing him (and not killing us as well) while we waited for her to get back. I think the time limit for the fight was 30mins? We won at 29mins and XX seconds. She came back just in time. I went straight to Tavnazia to watch the cutscene, and as the music played and the vocals came on, I just couldn't help but start tearing up. It was the end of a very long and arduous, but ultimately very satisfying race.
Last but not least, was Tavnazia itself. More specifically (and if I remember correctly) Blueblade fell. It was dangerous to be in that area as Fomors just love that spot, but it gave me the most lasting impression in the game. It was the fallen Tavnazian City which appeared in the opening cutscene of the game. It reminded me of how much I've done and how far I've come to be able to stand at that spot and view it. Because of that, I found it the most apt location to log out for the last time.
I haven't been back in the game for more than two years now, and I have no intention of going back again, but I will always have fond memories of the time I spent with friends as we journeyed to places unknown and fell a good many giant foes.
To FFXI... and to Vanadiel.

12:09 pm - Microsoft Songsmith
So at first I thought this was some joke ad, but as I watched and the screen grabs got shown, I was thinking, man this is alot of effort for a parody. Plus, the actors were too earnest. I'd have thought there would be some sarcastic, innuendo laden joke in there somewhere, but there was none. So I googled it.
MY GOD. It's Microsoft's version of Garage Band! THEY'RE REALLY MAKING IT.
Like someone said on Youtube: "This is simultaneously the worst and best thing ever."
EDIT: AND THAT'S THE SHITTIEST PRODUCT ICON EVER. What's up Ballmer?!
EDIT2: Ok, it's from Microsoft Research so I'll cut them some slack in the design section. People don't go to programmers for design work. *ducks*

12:57 pm - New Twist to the Nigerian Scam
My dad has been looking through Craigslist Listings for an apartment and he came across one that looked like a really good deal. A thousand something for an aparment (ICON) in Tanjong Pagar. So he contacted the guy and this was what came back. It seems that they've been taking details from legitimate listings and tweaking them to suit their needs. Just a heads up to all who are house hunting at the moment. Keep a look out and stay safe!

12:43 pm - It is done! Again!
We're finally done! It took so long to get this out the door. We had multiple revisions of the site but eventually decided to go with the old layout since we had an existing template to work with before incorporating Wordpress into it. For someone who has never touched Wordpress, I'm quite proud to see this finished. The icon you see up there is for the new software product. It looks really good on the dock, if i do say so myself. =D If you want a link to the site, drop by my previous entry. I'm going to be pigging out all dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Whee~! 06:13 pm - Nyeh~! Just got back form the dentist and she gave me an a-ok! I had an x-ray done just for kicks since I really wanted to know how my teeth were and we found an impacted tooth growing from the right. Everything else is fine though.
Oddly enough, I was really mesmerized by how big my nasal passages appeared on the x-ray.
My head still pounds with the headache I've been getting these past few days, but I've got stuff to do. Hopefully we can get everything done by the end of next week. Then I can have a nice loooong (1 week) break to chill.
I feel like something's OM NOM NOMMING on my head and it hurts. Current Mood: sick
